Welcome to the 2024 OBBC!

The Oak Bluffs Bluewater Classic is a multi-location event held in Falmouth and Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. The OBBC continues to raise funds for a variety of local charities, which include the Island Autism Group, the MV Boys & Girls Club, the MV Food Pantry, the MGH Colon Cancer Research Fund, and Fishing For The Mission 22. This year the OBBC will be donating proceeds to the MGH Colon Cancer Research Fund in memory of Kevin Glynn.

WHAT'S NEW!

For starters, the OBBC will be offering a small boat division. (38 feet and under) There will be separate calcutta entries for this small boat division as well as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place small boat division tournament trophies/prizes. Small boat division teams will still have the option to compete in the OBBC main division if they so choose. They cannot fish both divisions. Small boat division teams will still be able to compete in all of the OBBC added entry calcuttas. OBBC registered vessels will be required to declare their chosen division on registration day, Tuesday July 9th.

For outside of New England boats and crews only, the OBBC is making it easy to register. We can Fed Ex you your packet and captains bag if you register by July 1st. The captains meeting will be broadcasted on the Oak Bluffs Bluewater Classic Facebook page. Calcuttas can be done via mail providing a check is received by July 3rd. The OBBC has created an all new Bluefin Tuna Category. The OBBC will offer a 1st place trophy for the heaviest bluefin (commercial quota/73" or greater), a 1st place trophy for the heaviest bluefin (rec quota 72" and under) and a trophy prize for most bluefin caught. There will also be several bluefin tuna only added entry divisions available to all OBBC vessels. Please visit the tournament Rules and Prizes pages for additional information.

We are also excited to announce that our Falmouth weigh station will be held at the Flying Bridge Restaurant on Falmouth harbor. This will create a fun and highly interactive atmosphere for our participants and the general public. The OBBC will offer a 2nd weigh station on Martha's Vineyard in Oak Bluffs. Tournament weigh in information, standings, and highlights will be offered on the OBBC phone app. "Oak Bluffs Bluewater Classic".

The OBBC awards ceremony on Saturday July 13th will be held upstairs at the Flying Bridge. Bentley's Famous BBQ Pig Roast will be cooking again as always! The nationally renowned reggae outfit, The Grateful Dub, will be performing live! There will be a boat shuttle between Oak Bluffs ferry pier and Falmouth awards party on Saturday, July 13th for island based crews. Please see the Schedule section for details.

TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION: We've added an OBBC Kick Off Party/Captains Meeting on Tuesday July 9th from 3 pm - 8 pm (MacDougall's greens on Falmouth harbor) There will be a registration/calcutta check-in table inside the marina hospitality building adjacent to the tent 3 pm - 6 pm. Complimentary raw bar, brick oven pizza, open bar, and live music will be on the greens. Captain's meeting will start promptly at 6:30 pm. For out of state crews unable attend the captains meeting, it will be broadcasted live on the Oak Bluffs Bluewater Classic Facebook page, and questions can be typed in and answered. Pizza Barbone served 5 pm - 7 pm.

For any vessels staying on island, there will be a complimentary patriot boat shuttle, departing Oak Bluffs ferry pier at 3:45 pm, which will go to the Falmouth registration are. The return shuttle will be at 7:30 pm. There will not be an Oak Bluffs registration or captain's meeting.

Boats can fish from any port! The OBBC encompasses an overnight adventure, allowing entrants to fish two straight days out of four before returning to the dock. Both weigh stations will be open to the public. Come help us celebrate the Cape Cod lifestyle!
